I feel privileged to be able to practice my craft as an illustrator as well
as a fine artist.
I try to tell a story in each of my paintings. This 'story-telling' has birthed
my fascination in creating themed art series such as 'Wind-Swept', 'Heart-Art'
and 'Sky-Scapes'. The 'story' I tell usually revolves around the theme of a cyclical world, the changing seasons, weather and capturing that critical moment in time.
I am very passionate about painting and making art. I work predominantly
in acrylic on canvas or paper, which has been textured with gesso and sand.
When I work in oil, texture also plays a significant role because I apply the
paint with a 'heavy hand' mostly by palette knife.
I have been told time and again that my paintings elicit feelings of peace and
calmness. I believe we all search for 'purpose', and if my work produces that
kind of response, than I am truly fulfilled as an artist.
