After graduating from Herron School of Art, April became an advertising and editorial illustrator. She spent almost 20 years working for local and national agencies before her interest in painting influenced her to rethink her artistic direction.
April now considers herself equally divided between being an illustrator and a painter. She enjoys the challenge of retelling an author's story visually, but
relishes having total creative control in her fine art. April has completed seven children's books and is currently working on her eighth. Her fourth book,
Three Cups has sold over 15,000 copies and is available in many independent bookstores and gift shops.
April has been in over 35 juried art competitions/exhibitions and has won several awards, both locally and nationally. Her paintings are in the permanent collections
of the Indiana Library Foundation, Old National Bank of Zionsville and Greenwood,
London Witte & Associates, Three Sixty Group, Barnes & Thornburg LLP and
Reindeer Logistics.
April shows her work at the CCA Gallery in Zionsville, IN and the William & Joseph Gallery in
Santa Fe, NM. She resides in Carmel, IN with her husband Scott who designs furniture and
books in addition to co-owning an advertising firm. They have two wonderful adult children who attend college.
